Our Owners

Each of the owners at Foundations for Change have completed a Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies through The Trauma Center at JRI.  They each work hard to promote and foster trauma informed care throughout their practice.

Sara Allen,
Licensed Professional Counselor, co-owner


Sara Allen, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed by the state of Missouri . She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Missouri State University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.  Sara is an EMDR trained therapist.  She is also an approved supervisor through the state of Missouri.  

Sara started her career as a youth specialist and group leader for the Division of Youth Services. She then went on to work as a case manager for children in foster care through Boys and Girls Town of Missouri. Sara worked as a residential therapist for several years and also served as a counselor for juveniles in the St. Louis County detention center.

Sara enjoys helping others and places great importance on building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.

Dana L. Baker,
Licensed Professional Counselor, co-owner


Dana L. Baker, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed by the state of Missouri and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, licensed by the state of Illinois. Dana is on the Sex Offender Management Board in the state of Illinois. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and has a Master’s Degree in Counseling, both from Webster University.

Dana has worked with adults with severe mental illness and has done family therapy with clients in both residential and outpatient settings. She has worked with both juvenile and adult sex offenders providing offender specific treatment. Dana has worked with male adolescents with severe behavioral issues in a residential setting since 2006. She has worked in an outpatient family counseling center providing individual and family therapy.

Dana believes that through a strong alliance with clients they can learn that changing thought patterns will elicit changes in feelings and behaviors. Processing past traumas and experiences are key in helping clients gain an understanding of their faulty or negative thoughts, to help them achieve their goals.

Alexandria Boyer, PhD,

Licensed Professional Counselor, co-owner

Alexandria Boyer, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed by the state of Missouri. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Southern Illinois University, has a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Webster University, and a doctorate in Medical Family Therapy from Saint Louis University.  Alex teaches as an adjunct professor at both Webster University and Saint Louis University.  She isan approved supervisor through the state of Missouri.  Alex also serves on the board of directors for the Center for Woman in Transition where she acts as chair of the Program Committee.

Alex has worked as a therapist in a variety of settings, including; outpatient mental health centers, St. Louis County Family Courts and a long term residential treatment program.  She is an EMDR trained therapist with the following areas of interest: trauma, PTSD, anxiety, unhealthy relationships, and postpartum issues.

Alex places great emphasis on truly understanding each individual’s experience in order to form a meaningful relationship in therapy. She believes empathy and understanding are the cornerstones for fostering a healthy therapeutic alliance.  Alex has the philosophy that in therapy there can be no judgement made about any person or their choices in life.  The goal in her work with clients is to help identify how to make changes the client sees necessary to live a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life.

Marie Bonner-Horon,

Licensed Professional Counselor

Marie Bonner-Horon earned her Master of Arts degree from the University of Illinois Springfield in Human Development Counseling. Working with school aged children has always been a passion for Marie.  For the past 4 years Marie has worked in schools bridging the gap between school counseling and therapy; these schools include both public and private. Most recently Marie worked in a therapeutic behavioral school providing individual and group therapy for students with mental disorders. Core beliefs that Marie possess are: everyone has the ability to be successful with the right resources and support, actions do not define the person and anyone in need of help should receive it. Marie utilizes play, narrative and cognitive behavioral therapy to help her clients understand and work through their issues in order to become successful in their lives.

Agnes Jos Elking, PhD,

Licensed Professional Counselor

Dr. Agnes Jos Elking believes people have a human need to be heard, valued, and validated. Her approach means creating a safe, trusting, and accepting therapy environment. Agnes has worked in outpatient, residential, and hospital settings to provide individual, couple, family, and group counseling. Her experience in these various settings allows her to tailor therapies to meet the needs of each individual, couple, or family.

Agnes is especially skilled in working with families impacted by substance use.  Agnes has completed the Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Methods Couples Therapy.  She holds a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Louis University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and member of the American Counseling Association.


Megan Janushanis,

Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor

Megan earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. She is currently working with her supervisor (Dana Baker) to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri.

Megan has worked with adults, adolescents, and younger children providing in home and in office mental health treatment for a large variety of mental health needs including depression, anxiety, behavior problems, trauma, etc. She has also worked with both adolescents and adults in sex offender specific treatment groups and individual sessions.

Megan emphasizes trust in the therapeutic relationship between her clients and herself. By having a trusting relationship with unconditional positive regard, clients can begin to work on changing their thoughts and feelings to help further their mental well-being.


Ryan Liberati, PhD,

Licensed Professional Counselor

Dr. Liberati has been with Foundations for Change as a contract therapist since 2015. His clinical specialties are children, adolescents, LGBTQ, and men's issues.  He is a Licensed Professional Counselor here in Missouri, as well as a Licensed Clinical Professor Counselor in Illinois.  Dr. Liberati is also a Registered Play Therapist.  In addition, he is an approved clinical supervisor for PLPC individuals in Missouri.

 


                        Amanda Prasuhn,

Licensed Professional Counselor

Amanda has a Master´s Degree in counseling from Webster University and has multiple years of experience working with young children and adults in all environments including in-home therapy. Amanda has provided mental health treatment to individuals and families struggling with depression, anxiety, family separation, behavior problems, and trauma. Amanda´s therapeutic approach is client centered with an emphasis on building strong therapeutic relationships with each client in order to better identify and implement individual treatment modalities. 



Hayley Steinmetz,

Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor

Hayley Steinmetz, PLPC is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed by the state of Missouri. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Northeastern University Boston, MA and a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Maryville University Saint Louis, MO.

Hayley treats a wide range of issues and is committed to providing therapeutic services that best meet the needs of her clients. She does not adhere to a one-size-fits-all approach to counseling; rather, she works together with her clients in identifying and embracing their strengths and challenges unique to them.

Hayley works collaboratively with her clients to address their specific goals and needs; enhance and improve their overall well-being; and assist them towards a better tomorrow. She offers family, individual and couples counseling in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere that fosters support, empathy & understanding between therapist and client.

 

Calin Sterling,

Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor

Calin Sterling has a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling from Webster University and is currently under the supervision of Alexandria Boyer to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri. Calin has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, and problematic behaviors. She believes in the importance of creating a safe environment where people can feel heard and empowered to explore their inner resources. Calin meets her clients where they are in their therapeutic process and supports them in their progress towards positive change.

 

Katy Stevener,

Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor

Katy earned a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University.
She is currently working with Sara Allen, LPC for licensure supervision to become a
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri.  Katy has experience working with adults, adolescents and younger children and provides both in-home and in-office treatment. She is experienced in treating multiple mental health needs including anxiety, depression, trauma and family separation.  Katy’s therapeutic approach is client-centered and is tailored to meet the needs of each client. She believes in building strong relationships through empathy, compassion and trust.


LaQuitta Wilder,

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

LaQuitta Wilder, MSW, LMSW is a Licensed Master Social Worker, licensed by the state of Missouri. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Talladega College and a Master’s Degree in Social Worker from Saint Louis University. LaQuitta is a trained TFCBT- Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapist. LaQuitta has more than 20 years of social work experiences and has done individual and family therapy with clients in the home, schools, residential and outpatient settings.
